Dmitri Dmitrijev

Member of the Riigikogu until 01.04.2023

General information

I have been a member of the Estonian Centre Party for seventeen years, and for almost as long a member of the City Council and City Government of Kiviõli, and later Lüganuse Rural Municipality Council, which was formed as a result of the merger after the administrative reform. Seven years as the Mayor of Kiviõli gave me a good overview of the problems of various spheres of local life, and the concerns of people in small local governments. I have been a member of the Riigikogu for two consecutive terms and I stand for a well-planned and balanced regional policy in Estonia. My top priorities are increasing the funding for the East-Viru County programme and a fairer redistribution of environmental charges, which should benefit East-Viru County as a whole as well as other Estonian municipalities. The state of Estonia is as strong as its smallest local government.
