Hussar said at the meeting that NATO membership and unanimous support for Ukraine in the war of aggression initiated by Russia had brought Estonia and Montenegro noticeably closer. \u201cIt is a pleasure to note that Montenegro has made significant progress as a candidate country of the European Union. I reassure you that Estonia is a strong supporter of European Union enlargement,\u201d the President of the Riigikogu said, and added that he had recently participated in the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Croatia. \u201cIn Dubrovnik, we could see how much Croatia has gained from its membership in the European Union, and this would certainly be of great benefit to Montenegro as well,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
In response to the question of the President of Montenegro, Hussar stated that Russia did not wish to end the war in Ukraine but was instead escalating the conflict. \u201cRussia does not want peace, but wishes to continue its military operation because it believes it can achieve its objectives,\u201d the President of the Riigikogu noted, pointing out that Russia had not even kept the ceasefire agreed upon for 9 May. \u201cRussia does not keep its promises. Our only option is to continue comprehensive support to Ukraine and exerting pressure on Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Milatovi\u0107\u2019s participation in the Lennart Meri Conference, the EU-Western Balkans Summit and strengthening bilateral cooperation in different fields were also discussed at the meeting.<\/p>\n
