\u201cThe Riigikogu Art Gallery provides an opportunity to introduce modern Estonian art to a broad and diverse audience and to offer a meeting place for ideas that connect history, creativity and society. Kadi Pajupuu\u2019s works highlight both craftsmanship and the spirit of invention, both of which are essential components of the continuity of Estonian culture,\u201d President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

The possibilities of textile art as a meeting place for materials, technologies and meanings form the heart of the exhibition. It intertwines an archaic linguistic and spiritual space with a modern approach to materials. The title of the exhibition, \u201cSinane\u201d (\u201cThis Very\u201d), refers to the older written Estonian language and emphasises presence and belonging, while simultaneously opening to the viewer a figurative world that explores resilience, courage and facing the darkness. Experimentation with tools and weaving techniques plays a significant role, expanding the boundaries of textile as a spatial and narrative medium.<\/p>\n

Kadi Pajupuu<\/strong> is one of the most outstanding innovators of the Estonian textile art. She is a Professor at PALLAS University of Applied Sciences in Tartu, and an internationally renowned practitioner and developer of innovative textile techniques. Pajupuu has edited and designed several professional books and is also involved in the invention and development of textile tools. The solutions created by her, such as RailReed, an adjustable weaving reed for handlooms that enables to change warp density, and MultiWeave, a method for creating three-dimensional textiles, have found widespread use.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cSinane\u201d will be open in the Riigikogu Art Gallery until 18 June 2026. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors need to present an identity document to enter Toompea Castle. Exhibitions in the Exhibition Hall at Toompea Castle are organised by the Estonian Artists\u2019 Association in cooperation with the Chancellery of the Riigikogu.<\/p>\n
