This is a major project initiated by the Union of Artists of Ukraine in 2022. Some of the paintings on display were created shortly before the start of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion. However, most of the works were created in February and March 2022, when the democratic world watched live broadcasts of the incredible cruelty of the conquerors of Mariupol and the courage of the defenders of Azovstal.<\/p>\n

President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar<\/strong> said that the exhibition vividly expressed how strong the human spirit could be even in the most difficult moments. \u201cI have deep respect for these artists who are able to transfer their pain and dreams onto canvas and share them with the whole world. The Estonian people understand Ukraine\u2019s suffering and aspirations for freedom, because our own history has taught us how precious and fragile freedom is. That is why we continue to stand by the Ukrainian people, supporting their right to freedom and self-determination,\u201d Lauri Hussar said.<\/p>\n

The exhibition opening at Toompea Castle includes works by the following artists: Volodymyr Romanov<\/strong>, Maria Polyakova<\/strong>, Andriy Kutana<\/strong>, Viktor Kovtun<\/strong>, Mykhailo Kyblyk<\/strong>, Olena Samoylyk<\/strong>, Sergei Barannik<\/strong>, Bohdan Goloyad<\/strong>, Yuri Hryhorovych<\/strong>, Vladimir Padun<\/strong>, Ilze Paulina<\/strong> and Volodymyr Harakoz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The author and curator of the exhibition is Valeriy Yurychkovskyi<\/strong>, an artist from Mariupol and a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, who travelled from Ukraine to Tallinn to attend the opening of the exhibition.<\/p>\n

The exhibition has been shown in Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy, and also in Valga, Estonia. The exhibition in Tallinn has been organized by the Riigikogu, the Congress of Ukrainians in Estonia, and the Ukrainian Society Kalyna in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine. <\/p>\n

The exhibition will be open until 5 December in the art gallery on the second floor of Toompea Castle. The exhibition can be visited on working days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors need to present an identity document to gain entry to Toompea Castle.<\/p>\n
