This year\u2019s BA Prize for the Arts was awarded to Estonian jewellery and video artist <strong>Darja Popolitova<\/strong>. The Prize for Literature was awarded to Latvian poet <strong>K\u0101rlis V\u0113rdi\u0146\u0161<\/strong> and translator <strong>Valts Ern\u0161treits<\/strong> for the collection of poems \u201cL\u012bbie\u0161u bal\u0101des\/L\u012bv\u00f5d bal\u0101d\u00f5d\u201d, or \u201cThe Livonian Ballads\u201d. The Prize for Science was awarded to Lithuanian researcher in the field of comparative historical sociology <strong>Zenonas Norkus<\/strong> for his two research monographs on post-communist transformation. The ceremony will take place in the Estonian Statehood House at 7&nbsp;p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Friday, 23&nbsp;October, the meeting of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly and the Speakers of the national parliaments of the Baltic States will take place in the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia). After that, at 10&nbsp;a.m., the 45th Session of the BA will be opened. At the opening of the Session, the Speakers of the parliaments of the Baltic States will deliver speeches. The Session will be chaired by President of the Baltic Assembly <strong>Timo Suslov<\/strong> and Vice Presidents of the BA <strong>Giedrius Drukteinis<\/strong> and <strong>J\u0101nis Vuc\u0101ns<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Baltic Council, the cooperation assembly of the Governments and the parliaments of the Baltic States, will hold its 32nd meeting on Friday. The sitting of the Baltic Council will be chaired by President of the Baltic Assembly <strong>Timo Suslov<\/strong> and a representative of Estonia, who holds the Presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers. The representatives of the governments of Latvia and Lithuania will deliver speeches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>At the press conference on Friday at 1&nbsp;p.m. in the White Hall of the Riigikogu<\/em><\/strong>, journalists will have the opportunity to pose questions to the representatives of the Baltic Council of Ministers and the heads of the Baltic Assembly delegations. Before the press conference, President of the Baltic Assembly <strong>Timo Suslov<\/strong> and a representative the Presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers Estonia will sign the Joint Statement of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BA Session will continue in the afternoon to discuss ensuring the security of the Baltic States and the next steps needed to strengthen defence cooperation. At the end of the session, the new President of the Baltic Assembly will be elected, and the Resolution and the final documents of the 45th Session of the Baltic Assembly will be signed. After the end of the Session, Estonia will hand over the presidency of the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Council of Ministers to Lithuania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.riigikogu.ee\/en\/riigikogu\/delegations\/ba\/\">The Baltic Assembly<\/a> (Interparliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Lithuania) is a consultative cooperation organisation of the parliaments of the three Baltic States that discusses issues of mutual interest. The Estonian Delegation to the BA is headed by <strong>Timo Suslov<\/strong>, Deputy Head of the delegation is <strong>Enn Eesmaa<\/strong>.
