Regular sittings of the Riigikogu are held on plenary working weeks, from Monday to Thursday. It sets down the working hours of the committees and the plenary assembly. The spring session begins on the second Monday of January and ends on the third Thursday of June. The autumn session begins on the second Monday of September and ends on the third Thursday of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the working week of the plenary assembly of the Riigikogu, regular sittings are held from Monday to Thursday. Three working weeks of the plenary assembly are followed by a week when there are no sittings and the members of the Riigikogu fulfil other duties of MPs. They meet constituents and interest groups, attend seminars and conferences, write articles and represent the Riigikogu on official missions abroad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After 1992, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riigikogu.ee\/en\/introduction-and-history\/history-of-the-riigikogu\/8th-riigikogu\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"5333\">8th Riigikogu<\/a> has held the most sittings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extraordinary sessions and additional sittings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to regular sessions,&nbsp;<span data-tooltip=\"Extraordinary sessions of the Riigikogu are held when the Riigikogu must make decisions during the period between regular sessions. For example, an extraordinary session may be convened in order to elect the President of the Republic. A fact from history: an extraordinary session was held on 29 August 2011 to elect the President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.\" class=\"has-tooltip\">extraordinary sessions<\/span>&nbsp;may also be convened at the proposal of the Government, the President of the Republic or at least 21 members of the Riigikogu. Besides that, additional sittings may take place during regular sessions.
