Three Select Committees are formed by the Riigikogu this working week
The Riigikogu approved the agenda for the working week, according to which the first reading of three Bills will take place on Tuesday’s sitting. The Bills deal with the appointment of members of the Supervisory Board of the National Opera, National Library of Estonia and the National Broadcasting. The formation of three Select Committees will be deliberated on Wednesday’s sitting. They are the following: the Select Committee on the Application of the Anti-corruption Act, the Select Committee on the Supervision of Security Authorities and the State Budget Control Committee. The second reading of the Bills is scheduled for Thursday.
Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts made a political statement before the Riigikogu in connection with the appointment of Assistant Minister Siim-Valmar Kiisler to office. Mr. Parts introduced the duties of Assistant Minister to deputies. The Assistant Minister will be responsible for the development of enterprise and infrastructure: the protection of state interests connected with the participation of the state in legal persons in private law; daily exchange of information between undertakings and representative organizations; the planning and management of large-scale infrastructure development projects.
