The Riigikogu passed with 82 votes in favour the Act on Amendments to the Border Guard Service Act (95 SE), initiated by the Government. The Riigikogu passed with 80 votes in favour the Act on Amendments to the Consumer Protection Act and Law of Obligations Act (28 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic. The Act transposes the EU directive concerning dishonest trade practices related to transactions between enterprises and consumers. The directive defines in general terms a dishonest trade practice, sets out the rules for evaluating whether a trade practice is dishonest, and stipulates the prohibition to use dishonest trade practices vis à vis the consumers. The aim is to enhance the functioning of the internal market, to render international trade easier for enterprises, to harmonise the level of consumer protection of Member States and to make consumer rights clearer. The Act enters into force on 12 December 2007.
