The Riigikogu passed the Study Allowances and Study Loans Act Amendment Act (957 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic. The Act extends the group of recipients of study loans and study allowances to the citizens of the European Union and the members of their families residing in Estonia and it enables them, if they are working in Estonia, to write off their study loans pursuant to the provisions of the Act. 72 members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of the Act, nobody was against and nobody abstained. The Act enters into force on the day following its publication in the Riigi Teataja.
