Riigikogu

The Riigikogu passed with 57 votes in favour (20 against) the Customs Act Amendment Act (577 SE), initiated by Member of the Riigikogu Evelyn Sepp. The Act amends the Customs Act by analogy with the regulation stipulated in the Defence Forces Service Act and Police Service Act, pursuant to which if a person has served in the customs service for at least 20 years, his or her length of service as customs official between 22 October 1990 and 31 July 1994 will be taken into account threefold, when determining his or her total length of service. The Act enters into force on 1 January 2008.

The Riigikogu passed with 62 votes in favour the Resolution of the Riigikogu On the Appointment of Members of the Supervisory Board of the Estonian Development Fund (1090 OE), submitted by the Economic Affairs Committee, pursuant to which the following members of the Riigikogu and the representatives of enterprise and public were appointed as members of the Supervisory Board of the Development Fund: Tõnis Lukas, Jaan-Sven Männik; Indrek Neivelt, Mart Opmann and Erik Terk. Pursuant to the Estonian Development Fund Act, the Riigikogu has the right to appoint five members to the nine-member Supervisory Board.

The Riigikogu concluded the first reading of six Bills:

The Bill on Amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act (1078 SE), initiated by the Estonian Reform Party Faction and the Estonian Centre Party Faction;

The Bill on Amendments to the Political Parties Act and Other Acts for Changing the Principles of Controlling the Financing of Political Parties (1060 SE), initiated by the Constitutional Committee;

The Bill on Amendments to the Fisheries Market Regulation Act (1082 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic;

The Bill on Amendments to the Veterinary Supervision over Trade in Animals and Animal Products and the Import and Export Thereof Act (1072 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic;

The Bill on Amendments to the Food Act and Associated Acts (1086 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic;

The Bill on Amendments to the Animal Protection Act (1087 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic.

The Riigikogu did not pass the Resolution of the Riigikogu On the Formation of the Riigikogu Committee of Investigation of Land Exchange Deals (1058 OE), submitted by the Res Publica Faction and Isamaaliit Faction. The result of voting: 37 votes in favour, 44 votes against, 2 abstentions.
