The economic use of the equipment of a member of the Defence Forces will be specified

The Riigikogu concluded the first reading of the Bill on Amendments to § 160 of the Defence Forces Service Act (843 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic. The Bill defines the notion of the clothing equipment of a member of the Defence Forces. The clothing equipment consists of a uniform, special clothing equipment, distinguishing marks, bedclothes and additional clothing equipment. Special clothing equipment includes for example backpacks, helmets and bullet proof vests, which are subject to return. Additional clothing equipment includes insoles and felt insides of footwear. The purpose of the Bill is the expedient and economic use of financial resources. “As a Member State of NATO, we have become better aware of lengthening of the life cycle of the equipment, and the prerequisite for this is a strict regulation,” the letter of explanation to the Bill says.
The Riigikogu rejected with 45 votes in favour (23 against) form legislative proceeding the Bill on Amendments to the State Fees Act (807 SE), initiated by the Res Publica Faction, and with 41 votes in favour (27 against) the Bill on Amendments to the Income Tax Act (810 SE), initiated by the Isamaaliit Faction.
