The Riigikogu passed with 79 votes in favour the Resolution On the Formation of the Council for Allocation of Grants from Gambling Taxes (40 OE). Pursuant to the Resolution, the Council includes Members of the Riigikogu Kaia Iva, Kalev Kotkas, Lauri Luik, Tarmo Mänd, Mailis Reps and Toomas Trapido, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Research Sirje Jõgiste, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture Siim Sukles and Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Riho Rahuoja. Nobody voted against the Resolution, one member of the Riigikogu abstained.

On the motion of the Legal Affairs Committee as the leading committee, the first reading of the Bill on Amendments to the Police Act (26 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic, was concluded. Pursuant to the Bill, a new section will be added to the Act which is related to the creation of the state register of Schengen information system and which forms the basis for the Police to engage in transboundary police cooperation. The Bill was sent to the second reading.

On the motion of the Legal Affairs Committee as the leading committee, the first reading of the Bill on Amendments to the Police Act, Government of the Republic Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Their Source Materials Act, Police Service Act and Forensic Examination Act (37 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic, was concluded. The Bill creates legal bases for the combining of the tasks of two state forensic institutions in one forensic institution with the main objective of rendering better services to the Police, Prosecutor’s Office and Court for the establishment of the evidencel base and the use of it in disclosing offences. The Bill was sent to the second reading.
