Riigikogu passed with 75 votes in favour Statement in support of Ukraine
At the second additional sitting on Wednesday, the Riigikogu passed the Statement in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. 75 members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of the Statement and one member was against.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Marko Mihkelson said from the rostrum in the chamber of the Riigikogu that the worrying events in Ukraine cannot leave anyone indifferent in Estonia today. “The Statement of the Riigikogu, initiated today by 63 members of the Riigikogu, is an immediate reaction to the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and an appeal to the international community to react in a more resolute way to the actions of Russia in violating the sovereignty and in jeopardising the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We demand that the Russian occupying forces leave the territory of Ukraine immediately and that the bilateral agreement regarding military bases be observed.
