The Riigikogu passed with 69 votes in favour the Resolution of the Riigikogu “Use of the Estonian Defence Forces in the Performance of the International Duties of the Estonian State in the Composition of the 12th Rotation of the NATO Response Force” (408 OE), initiated by the Government, which provides the use of the Estonian Defence Forces with a team of up to 15 members of the Defence Forces, as necessary, in the composition of the 12th rotation (NRF-12) of the NATO Response Force as of the entry into force of the Resolution until 31 December 2009 in a military operation, organised for the purpose of maintaining or restoring peace and security or in any other military operation in compliance with generally recognised practices and principles of international law, as provided in Chapters VI and VII of the UN Charter.
The Riigikogususpended the second reading of
the Bill on Amendments to the General Part of the Civil Code Act and the Law of Obligations Act (
365 SE), initiated by the Government.
The Riigikogu concluded the first reading of
the Draft Resolution of the Riigikogu “Extension of the Time Limit of the Use of the Estonian Defence Forces in Performance of the International Duties of the Estonian State in the Post-Conflict Peacekeeping Mission in Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and Syria” (
414 OE), initiated by the Government. The Draft provides the extension of the time limit of the use of the Estonian Defence Forces with a staff of up to five in the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and Syria (United Nations Truce Supervision Organization – UNTSO), led by the UN, provided in an earlier Resolution of the Riigikogu, until 31 December 2010, as of 21 February 2009.
At Question Time, the Minister of Education and Research Tõnis Lukas answered the question about the revenue base of local governments, submitted by Vilja Savisaar, and the question about the financing of education, submitted by Ester Tuiksoo. The Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts answered the question about wind energy development problems, submitted by Aleksei Lotman, and the question about the support of enterprise, submitted by Toomas Varek.
