On the motion of the Social Affairs Committee, the Bill on Amendments to the State Family Benefits Act (303 SE), initiated by the Estonian Centre Party Faction, was rejected at the first reading. The aim of the Bill was to increase the child care allowance to the amount of the child care allowance multiplied by two and a half for every child of up to three years of age, that is, as of 1 January 2014, a parent would have begun to receive 191.75 euro monthly, instead of the current amount of 38.35 euro. 45 members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of the motion to reject and 34 members voted against. The Bill was dropped from the legislative proceeding.
