Riigikogu passed with 66 votes in favour the Act on Amendments to § 13⁴ of the Fishing Act (41 SE), initiated by Members of the Riigikogu Tarmo Kõuts, Trivimi Velliste, Mark Soosaar and Imre Sooäär. The amendment gives the right to issue fishing permits to professional fishermen residing permanently on small permanently inhabited islands for the use of five or more entangling or enmeshing nets. Subsections 1(2) and (3) will enter into force on 1 January 2008. One member of the Riigikogu voted against the Act, nobody abstained.

On the motion of the Finance Committee as the leading committee, the Bill on Amendments to the Securities Market Act and Associated Acts (108 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic, was withdrawn from the agenda of the sitting.
