On the motion of the Cultural Affairs Committee as leading committee the Bill on Amendments to the Basic Schools and Upper Secondary Schools Act (140 SE), initiated by the Isamaaliit Faction, was rejected at the first reading. 40 members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of the motion, 7 against it and 2 members of the Riigikogu abstained. The Bill was withdrawn from legislative proceeding.
On the motion of the Cultural Affairs Committee as leading committee the first reading of the Bill on Amendments to § 281 of the Language Act (149 SE), initiated by Members of the Riigikogu Mihhail Stalnuhhin, Mailis Reps, Vladimir Velman, Toivo Tootsen, Heimar Lenk, Olev Laanjärv, Arnold Kimber and Vilja Savisaar, was concluded. Motions to amend are to be submitted to the leading committee by 17 November, 10.00.
