The Riigikogu concluded the second reading of the Bill on Amendments to the Bailiffs Act (670 SE), initiated by the Legal Affairs Committee, and the Bill on Amendments to the Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure (683 SE).

The purpose of the Bill on Amendments to the Bailiffs Act (670 SE) is to make amendments to the bases of the remuneration of bailiffs and to the tariff rates. The Bill introduces the principle according to which a bailiff’s fee consists of a fee for the commencement of an execution proceeding and a basic fee. The rate of a bailiff’s basic fee will be implemented as a flat-rate amount, proceeding from the amount of a financial claim or the contents of an enforcement operation.

The purpose of the Bill on Amendments to the Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure (683 SE) is to harmonise the terminology related to the Defence Forces Service Act and to modernize the out of date standards.
