Deputy Legal Chancellor-Adviser Madis Ernits took the oath of office before the Riigikogu.
The Riigikogu passed with 68 votes in favour the Act on Amendments to the Political Parties Act and Associated Acts (184 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic. The purpose of the Act is to regulate the matters related to the financing of political parties. The Act prohibits the donations made to the political parties by legal persons. The control of financing is also enhanced and in financing the political parties the representation in local government councils is also taken into account. The Act also reduces restrictions regarding the membership to a political party. 10 members of the Riigikogu voted against the Act, nobody abstained.
Father Christmas visited the Riigikogu, who wished the members of the Riigikogu Merry Christmas and dynamic atmosphere for the New Year. Father Christmas stressed that the representatives of the people should actively visit their electoral districts, and if they can see slippers on the window sill, they should always put something into whenever they see stockings hanging.
