At the beginning of today’s sitting, the Riigikogu stood up in commemoration of the victims of the March deportation.

Then, election of the President of the Riigikogu started. Ene Ergma was re-elected the President of the Riigikogu by secret ballot. 55 Members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of her. 42 Members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of Indrek Saar who had been nominated as the second candidate for President of the Riigikogu. 100 Members of the Riigikogu took part in the election of the President. Three ballot papers were declared invalid.
 
Member of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union Faction Peeter Tulviste nominated Ene Ergma as a candidate, and Chairman of the Social Democratic Party Faction Eiki Nestor nominated Indrek Saar as a candidate at the election.
 
In the election of Vice-Presidents, Chairman of the Estonian Reform Party Faction Peep Aru nominated Keit Pentus as a candidate for Vice-President of the Riigikogu, and Chairman of the Estonian Centre Party Faction Kadri Simson nominated Jüri Ratas as a candidate for Vice-President.
 
100 Members of the Riigikogu took part in the secret ballot of the election of Vice-Presidents. 52 Members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of Keit Pentus and 47 Members of the Riigikogu voted in favour of Jüri Ratas. One ballot paper was invalid. According to the number of votes received, Keit Pentus was elected the First Vice-President of the Riigikogu and Jüri Ratas was elected the Second Vice-President.
