Member of the Riigikogu Mati Jostov took the oath of office.

In connection with the appointment of 12 members of the Riigikogu as members of the Government of the Republic the alternate members Raivo Järvi, Mati Kepp, Siim-Valmar Kiisler, Andres Kork, Tiit Mae, Tiit Matsulevit?, Keit Pentus, Koit Prants, Arno Rossman and Hirvo Surva took the oath of office of a member of the Riigikogu.

In connection with the assumption of office, the members of the new government Prime Minister Juhan Parts, Minister of Education and Research Toivo Maimets, Minister of Justice Ken-Marti Vaher, Minister of Defence Margus Hanson, Minister of the Environment Villu Reiljan, Minister of Culture Urmas Paet, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Meelis Atonen, Minister of Agriculture Tiit Tammsaar, Minister of Finance Tõnis Palts, Minister of Internal Affairs Margus Leivo, Minister of Social Affairs Marko Pomerants, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristiina Ojuland, Minister Jaan Õunapuu and Minister Paul-Eerik Rummo took the oath of office before the Riigikogu.

President Arnold Rüütel signed before the Riigikogu the Resolution of the President of the Republic on the release from office of the government headed by Siim Kallas.
