At the plenary sitting of the Riigikogu on Tuesday, the Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will present a report on the activities of the Government in implementing the European Union (EU) policies. The Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Kalle Palling will give an annual overview of the role of the Riigikogu in shaping the EU policies.
In his speech Palling will focus on energy security, Eastern Partnership and the importance of the effective use of EU funds.
According to Palling, it is important to participate actively in the shaping of the EU policies. “Instead of following, we also have the obligation to lead. Even more so, because today we answer for the future of the Eastern Partnership countries of the European Union, and it is our duty to ensure the responsible use of the financial aid granted to Estonia by the taxpayers of the European Union and it is our task to ensure the energy security of Europe.”
After the speeches of the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the EU Affairs Committee, floor is give to the representatives of all factions.
