The European Union Affairs Committee (EUAC) delegation is currently visiting Georgia where it expressed its support to Georgia’s integration into the European Union.

At the meeting with the Vice-Speaker of the Georgian parliament Manana Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the EUAC Kalle Palling emphasised the importance of ratifying the association agreement between the European Union and Georgia.

“Next week, the Riigikogu intends to carry out the final vote on the association agreement between the EU and Georgia. We expect other EU national parliaments to discuss the document in the near future. This is an important step towards developing political and economic relations between the EU and Georgia,” Palling said.

At the meeting with the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maia Panjikidze, Palling expressed his hope that Georgia will soon conclude the visa waiver negotiations with the European Commission.

“Estonia supports introducing the visa waiver regime between Georgia and the EU. We will also make efforts to achieve progress at the Riga Summit in giving Georgia an EU membership perspective,” Palling said.

On Tuesday, the Riigikogu delegation will travel to Moldova to discuss European Union integration in the Moldovan parliament.

The delegation also includes the Vice-Chairman of the EUAC Marianne Mikko and member of the Committee Liisa-Ly Pakosta.
