The Estonian e-health solution was awarded the prize of the best technology solution at the World Government Summit in Dubai today.

Vice-President of the Riigikogu Taavi Rõivas said upon receiving the award that the innovativeness of the Estonian e-health solution, which was based on the technology created by Guardtime, had been noticed and recognised. “As far as it is known, Estonia is the only country that uses blockchain technology to ensure the security and reliability of people’s health data. We are pioneers in this field. May this prize encourage us to develop even more e-services,” Rõivas added.

Director of Gurdtime Mike Gault was also present at the awarding ceremony. Guardtime is a cyber defence technology company founded in Estonia, and cooperates with the Estonian e-health information system to ensure the security of patient data.

The award is given to the government that uses emerging technologies to provide government services more effectively and efficiently. The winner of the award is the project that is innovative and transforms people’s lives.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Muḩammad bin Rāshid Āl Maktūm presented the awards at the World GovTechioneers Race awarding ceremony.

Award was also given to the Eesti Energia mobile application as the best m-service in the Environment category.
