The web page of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) can now be used more conveniently in smart devices. During the development of updates, user statistics was analysed and significant user groups were interviewed. The users who visit the website riigikogu.ee with smart devices are provided only the most important information that is searched with the mobile phone. The information is in a simple format.
“We have finished the second stage of the Riigikogu web developments. The updates of user interface, which make it more convenient to view the Riigikogu web with various smart devices, are now ready. For example, it is now much easier to follow the live broadcasts of the Riigikogu, find contact information and be in touch with the latest news,” Secretary General of the Riigikogu Maria Alajõe said. “We also updated the home page on the basis of the feedback received from the users.”
Several functionalities in the Riigikogu website were updated. New links to information systems were created that enable to see the statistics of the speeches and comments of the members of the Riigikogu. The functionality of the calendar has also improved significantly. Now all public information on the activities in the plenary assembly and committees, and about other events in the Riigikogu, and also information on the activities of the Board of the Riigikogu, visits and official missions is displayed in calendar view. All draft legislation since 1992 is in digital format. The drafts are available through extended search of bills. It is also possible to find information on votings in plenary assembly since 1998.
“The Chancellery of the Riigikogu thanks all who have given feedback or made proposals on improving our web page,” Maria Alajõe said. “We want to take into account all feedback from our users in the best way in preparing our development plans. The work with the website continues, and the present updates will certainly not be the last.”
As a large part of the content comes to the website from integrated information systems, there may be small disturbances in displaying the information during the transition period. In such cases, we ask you to contact email@example.com or phone (+372) 631 6300, so that all errors could be repaired as soon as possible.
The homepage of the Riigikogu contains complicated functions, a great deal of data and several integrations with other information systems. The updating of the website of the Riigikogu on the basis of the priorities of the organisation of the work of the Riigikogu began in 2013, and the renewed website was opened last year. Web development focuses on developing different functionalities and integrations, and the migrating and updating of content.
