On Tuesday, 5 June at 1 p.m., presentation of the new issue of Riigikogu Toimetised (The Riigikogu Journal, RiTo) will take place in the Exhibition Hall of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia). The new issue focuses on the economic development of Estonia.
CEO of innovation management and consulting company Finsight Ltd. Indrek Tammeaid, Head of the Foresight Centre Tea Danilov and Rector of Tallinn University of Technology, Member of the Academy of Sciences Jaak Aaviksoo will participate in the panel discussion held at the presentation. The panel will be led by Editor-in-Chief of RiTo Mart Raudsaar.
“Estonia has good potential for enjoying a continuing economic success and for catching up with the more developed member states of the European Union, but in order to achieve that, we have to be able to turn from a sub-contracting country into a country that provides the final product,” the Editor-in-Chief said regarding the new issue.
In the new issue of RiTo, Rector of Tallinn University of Technology, Member of the Academy of Sciences Jaak Aaviksoo writes about the challenges to the Estonian economy. This topic is also analysed by Deputy Governor of Eesti Pank Ülo Kaasik and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Tartu Raul Eamets.
Professor of Research and Innovation Policy at the University of Tartu Kadri Ukrainski, CEO of innovation management and consulting company Finsight Ltd. Indrek Tammeaid, Assistant of Public Sector Economics at the University of Tartu Kadi Timpmann, Executive Secretary of Universities Estonia Hanna Kanep and Professor of International Entrepreneurship at the University of Tartu, Member of the Academy of Sciences Urmas Varblane write about the possible development models of Estonian economy.
The Foresight Centre gives an overview of the investment patterns and export of companies, and innovation in the transitional countries in Europe. Statistics Estonia contributes with surveys of employment and the development of competitiveness in Estonia.
The journal also contains an article on the development and peculiarities of the Estonian electoral system, and possible outcomes of elections. Besides that, there is an article that analyses the research career model in Estonia.
The articles of RiTo 37 are available on the website of Riigikogu Toimetised. Translated article “EU Cohesion Policy and Innovation Support in Central and Eastern Europe: A Critical Review” can be read only on the web. All earlier issues are available on the website.
In Tallinn, the journal can be bought at “Rahva Raamat” bookshops and web shop, and the Parliament Shop at Toompea. In Tartu, RiTo is sold at “Krisostomus” bookshop and its web shop. Subscription to the journal is available on the RiTo website.
