Members of NATO PA learn about the security situation and hybrid threats in Tallinn
Members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Sub-Committee on Resilience and Civil Security and Sub-Committee on Technology Trends and Security are visiting Estonia today and tomorrow to discuss strengthening comprehensive security and combating hybrid threats on NATO’s eastern flank.
At the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia), the delegation of the NATO PA sub-committees will be received by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Marko Mihkelson, who is a member of the Estonian delegation to the NATO PA; other members of the Estonian delegation will also meet with the sub-committee members. Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jonatan Vseviov will give the members of parliaments of NATO countries an overview of Estonia’s defence policy priorities and foreign policy priorities. Director for National Security and Defence Coordination at the Government Office Erkki Tori. will speak about crisis management and preparedness. The NATO PA delegation will also meet with the representatives of the e-Estonia Briefing Centre and NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (NATO DIANA) today.
Tomorrow, the nearly 30-member delegation will have meetings at the Estonian Defence League. They will also visit the defence industry company DefSecIntel Solutions and international cyber defence exercise Locked Shields.
The NATO PA delegation includes members of the sub-committees of the assembly’s Committee on Democracy and Security and Science and Technology Committee, who deal with the issues of resilience, civil protection and technology trends relating to security. From Estonia, they will travel on to visit Finland.
