Nestor met with the Moldovan Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family and visited the Gagauz autonomous region
Visiting the Republic of Moldova, the President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor met with the Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga on Thursday and discussed the preparation of social reforms in Moldova. According to the Minister, Moldova took full advantage of Estonia’s experiences in the field when preparing its documents.
“Social issues are always complicated and always current. We are only too glad to continue to share our experiences in this field with Moldova,” Nestor marked.
The President of the Riigikogu visited Gagauz autonomous region and met with the heads of territorial units: Bashkan Mikhail Formuzal and President of the People’s Assembly Dmitry Konstantinov. The hosts gave an overview of the developments, main challenges and relations with the central powers in the region over the past years, and expressed their cautious opinion of Moldova’s tightening cooperation with the European Union. The authorities of the autonomous region consider the signing of the association agreement between Moldova and the European Union – planned for June – as premature.
“Signing an association and a free trade agreement with the European Union has always given new momentum to the development of the parties, and has quickly improved the choices and the quality of life of their citizens. I am confident that this will also constitute a clear benefit for Moldova,” Nestor said.
