Today the National Defence Committee of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) met with the leadership of the units of the U.S. Ground Forces located in Estonia in order to thank and acknowledge them for their service in Estonia.
In the opinion of the Chairman of the National Defence Committee Marko Mihkelson, the service of allies in Estonia is equally important to themselves for training their skills and to us in increasing collective defence and deterrence.
“The presence of the U.S. allied forces in Estonia has considerably increased the feeling of security of our people, and at the same time also given a very clear signal that Estonia is not facing the possible threats alone and we have very good allies,” Mihkelson said.
Members of the National Defence Committee Marianne Mikko, Johannes Kert and Madis Milling also participated in the meeting.
