On Monday, the Chairman of the National Defence Committee Mati Raidma met with the Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze.

“Estonia and Georgia enjoy a very close defence cooperation, having worked together in Afghanistan and more recently in Central Africa. Exercise and training programmes are carried out both in Estonia and in Georgia. We have similar views and we are allies in treasuring the independence and national defence of our countries,” Mati Raidma said.

Raidma and Kapanadze discussed reforming and funding Georgian armed forces as well as Georgia’s ambitions to join the NATO.

Vakhtang Kapanadze studied in the College of International and Strategic Studies of George C. Marshall Center in 1997 together with the Adviser/ Head of the Secretariat of the National Defence Committee Aivar Engel.
