Today, the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu met in Seoul with the Speaker of the parliament of the Republic of Korea Hee Tae Park and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Kyung Pil Nam. Both meetings focused on bilateral relations and the promotion of mutual economic relations was the focal issue.

The special nature of the meetings is underlined by the fact that it is the first visit of a Riigikogu delegation to the Republic of Korea. “At the two and a half hour meeting with the Speaker of the parliament in a very warm atmosphere, issues which were of interest to both parties were discussed and most attention was paid to new opportunities for boosting economic relations,” said the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson.

“It is a very pleasant surprise to the Estonian delegation how well we have been received here. This confirms that the meetings in Tallinn during the visit of the Speaker of the parliament of the Republic of Korea in July this year have found quick feedback and a totally new quality is being introduced into the cooperation of our two countries,” said Mihkelson.

The delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu which includes Enn Eesmaa, Raivo Järvi and Jevgeni Ossinovski, besides Mihkelson, also met with the Vice-President of Korean Air KD Han and representatives of European Union member states in Seoul today.
