Today and tomorrow, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Marko Mihkelson participates in the meeting of the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the parliaments of the Baltic States and the Nordic Countries (NB8) in Latvia. The meeting will focus on regional security, supporting Ukraine, and transatlantic relations.

During the meetings held in Kuldīga, the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees from eight countries will discuss regional security situation, developments in Ukraine and possibilities for future support to Ukraine, and the impact of US foreign policy on transatlantic relations. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia will participate in the meetings as guests.

On Friday, the Chairs of Foreign Affairs Committees will visit National Armed Forces training area “Mežaine” near the city of Skrunda, where they will discuss security threats posed by Russia and Belarus, and enhancing defence capability on NATO’s eastern flank.

The meeting, which is held in NB8 format, brings together the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Parliaments of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

After the meeting of the Chairs of Foreign Affairs Committees, Mihkelson will travel to the United Kingdom, where he will participate in the Ditchley conference focusing on the relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
