Today, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson is taking part in a seminar organised by Riksdag, the Swedish parliament, to celebrate the centenary of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as the excellent cooperation between Sweden and the Baltic states.
“The cooperation between the Nordic countries and the Baltic states is very strong and efficient in all fields,” Mihkelson declared. His speech at the seminar will involve regional security, defence and foreign affairs cooperation between the Nordic countries and the Baltic states.
The seminar counts the participation of representatives from the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian parliament, members of the Swedish parliament, and guests from embassies in Stockholm.
During the panel discussion, members of the parliament will discuss common challenges and opportunities for further enhancing Nordic-Baltic cooperation and bilateral relations and defining the fields for deeper parliamentary cooperation. In addition to issues of security, defence and foreign affairs, experiences are exchanged in fields of health care, education and social affairs.
Mihkelson will also have a bilateral meeting with the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hans Wallmark.
