Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Marko Mihkelson is on a working visit in Madrid, where he will meet with the representatives of the Government and the Parliament of Spain. The meetings will focus on the relations between Estonia and Spain, and also on the future of the European Union and preparations for the NATO summit.

“Spain is our important ally, who has participated in the Baltic Air Policing mission several times. Madrid understands very well why strengthening of collective defence is a priority in NATO,” Mihkelson said.

Tomorrow, Mihkelson will meet with the Secretary of State for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain Jorge Toledo and Director General of Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence Elena Gómez Castro. He will also have meetings with the representatives of the Spanish press and Director of the think tank Elcano Royal Institute Charles Powell.

On Tuesday, Mihkelson will have a meeting with Pilar Rojo, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies, the lower house of the Parliament of Spain.
