Delegation of EU Affairs Committee met with Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs of European Commission Olli Rehn
On Wednesday, 9 June, Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson and members of the Committee Jüri Tamm and Raivo Järvi met with Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Commission Olli Rehn in Brussels who congratulated Estonia on the upcoming accession to the euro zone.
Olli Rehn recognised Estonia’s efforts and added that Estonia’s accession to the euro zone will send a positive signal that compliance with rules will be rewarded. At the same time, Rehn expressed a hope that Estonia would continue to maintain compliance with inflation criteria also after 2011.
“Estonia supports development and application of common rules and obligatory compliance with these for all member states,” said Marko Mihkelson.
The delegation of the EU Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu stayed in Brussels from 7 until 9 June.
