Today the members of the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) are on a visit in Helsinki, where the activities of Finnish-Estonian Cultural Foundation and celebrating the anniversary year of Finland and Estonia will be spoken about.
“We have very close and useful cooperation with our Finnish colleagues in several fields, bilaterally and also through the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference,” Head of the Committee Aadu Must said. He emphasised that other committees of the Riigikogu also have close contacts with our northern neighbours. Must recalled that during their earlier visits, the Cultural Affairs Committee had thoroughly learned about the organisation of education in Finland. Issues relating to education will also be discussed at today’s visit.
Members of the Cultural Affairs Committee will visit the Estonian Embassy and meet with Ambassador Margus Laidre. At the Eduskunta (Parliament of Finland), they will meet with their colleagues from the Education and Culture Committee. They will also have meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, and visit the Estonian House and the Tuglas Society.
