Today, President of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Eiki Nestor and other speakers of the parliaments of the Baltic States and the Nordic Countries (NB 8) will start a working visit in Washington.
Today it is planned to have meetings with Andrea Thompson, National Security Advisor to Vice President Mike Pence, Undersecretary for International Trade at the Department of Commerce Israel Hernandez, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the State Department Tom Shannon, and Democratic Senator Bob Menendez.
Tomorrow, Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan, Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and Senior Director for Europe and Eurasia at the National Security Council Fiona Hill will receive the NB8 speakers.
The President of the Riigikogu will make a report at the round table on security, economy and technology at the U.S. Congress.
“The economies of the Nordic Countries and the Baltic States are closely connected, and therefore security cooperation is also important for us. Estonia contributes to ensuring security through NATO, the European Union and also through joint activities of the region,” Nestor said.
