The President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor met with MPs and higher state officials from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Ukraine. During the meeting, he emphasised the importance of e-solutions in making the work of the Riigikogu paperless.

“Digital development has been an integral part of the political, economic, and administrative reforms carried out over the past 25 years. E-solutions simplify state governance, make services better accessible for the population, and improve the transparency of the decision making process,” Nestor said.

The guests received a presentation of the Riigikogu legislative process information system, where the documents on the draft legislation, treaties, and administrative issues are entered, and then signed digitally. This makes the process digital from start to finish.

The meeting took place in the framework of a training course organised by the e-Governance Academy together with the International Republican Institute, the leading institute on democracy in the USA. The participant list included MPs and higher state officials from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Ukraine, as well as representatives of the Institute. The training course focussed on e-governance initiatives and legislation in Estonia.
