The President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor condemned the terrorist attack in the tourist area of Las Ramblas in Barcelona, and expressed sympathy for the Spanish people, and for the friends and families of the victims.

“Our thoughts are with the Spanish people. Heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of the victims, and to everyone touched by this brutal attack”. Nestor wished speedy recovery to everyone who had been injured by the truck that drove straight into the crowd.

Nestor remarked that terrorists are not choosy about the means of attack or the victims. “It is heinous and barbaric of the terrorists to attack innocent people who have no way of protecting themselves against this,” Nestor said.

The President of the Riigikogu said that all the EU Member States must stand united and make sure that our common values persevere and our citizens feel safe.
