In 2017–2018, the Foresight Centre is carrying out a study that focuses on developments in productivity. The main objective of the planned project is to assess the growth perspectives of added value. The study focuses on the possible sources of increased productivity in the future, which would lead to a positive shift in the competitiveness of businesses over the next 10-15 years.
In drafting the development scenarios of productivity, one needs to understand the factors that influence productivity both at the aggregate level and at the businesses level, as well as their theoretical bases, and the related issues in Estonia and around the world. The purpose of the work is to study the possible developments of factors in a broader way than by just extrapolating the existing trends; instead, the Centre works on identifying important uncertain factors that could lead to changes in the current trends.
The scenarios allow to systematise alternatives for a policy that supports productivity, and to consider their possible efficiency in the framework of the drafted scenarios.
