Open House Day 2024
The Riigikogu celebrates its 105th anniversary on April 20th with an Open House Day.
The first representative body elected by the people in independent Estonia – the Constituent Assembly – convened in Tallinn on 23 April 1919. Since 1999, the Riigikogu has been celebrating the anniversary of that event with an Open House Day.
The Riigikogu Open House Day – 20 April
10.40 a.m. Musical greeting from the balcony by the Defence League Sakala District military pipe band
10.55 a.m. Greeting by President of the Riigikogu Lauri Hussar
11 a.m.–4 p.m. Tours of the parliamentary building (Tours in Estonian, Russian, English start every full and half hour. Tours in Ukrainian at start at 11, 13 and 15); entry to Tall Hermann Tower every full and half hour.
11 a.m.–4 p.m. Meetings with members of the Riigikogu in the offices of parliamentary groups
11 a.m.–4 p.m. Special programme for the Cultural Diversity Year
- Workshops by the Estonian Open Air Museum Kuie school and typical inter-war inventory of Lau village shop
- Estonian Folk Art and Craft Union workshops:
- Good luck cross – Lahemaa Heritage House
- Whirligig – Lahemaa Heritage House
- Himmeli – Eesti RooKoondis
- Woven heart band – Estonian Folk Art and Craft Union
11 a.m.–4 p.m. Katarina Jee Mobile Library is open. Tallinn Central Library offers movement and language games
11 a.m.–4 p.m. National Library of Estonia tests your knowledge of the Riigikogu – go on, give it a try!
11 a.m.–4 p.m. State Elder August Rei Foundation: August Rei photographic wall with photo opportunities in the White Hall. Every full and half hour a 20-minute speed course on Estonian history (August Rei Room)
12-1 p.m. Café conversation on integration, moderated by Urmas Vaino
1–2 p.m. Quiz for teams from schools and the Riigikogu
3–4 p.m. Good Mood Concert by EHALE
