    The Riigikogu is the parliament of Estonia. Its 101 members are elected at general elections for a term of four years. The Riigikogu passes laws and resolutions, exercises parliamentary supervision and ratifies international agreements.

Hussar at the flag raising ceremony at Toompea: our state was born out of the courage to determine our destiny

At the flag-raising ceremony today, on the morning of the Independence Day of the Republic of Estonia, President of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Lauri Hussar said that the Republic of Estonia had been born out of the people’s courage to decide their destiny. According to him, the proclamation of the Estonian Declaration of Independence was a conscious and responsible choice, and its significance continues to the present day.
