Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union
In 2017, Estonia will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time. The primary responsibility of the Presidency is to organise the work on EU legislation and to shape the institution’s policy through the Council’s levels of decision-making. Estonia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union began on 1 July 2017.
The Riigikogu and Toompea Castle are open to the public all year round. You can visit the sittings, the Castle and the art exhibitions, and take a guided tour (incl. within an educational programme) free of charge.
Tour guides conduct fascinating tours of the parliament for both groups and individual visitors. You need to register for tours. No booking is required for visiting the exhibitions and plenary sittings, which can be followed from the guest balcony.
In addition to this, the Riigikogu celebrates the anniversary of the Estonian Constituent Assembly with an Open House every April. You are very welcome!
