The Board of the Riigikogu is the body organising the work of the Riigikogu. It consists of the President and two Vice-Presidents of the Riigikogu who are elected from among the members of the Riigikogu.

The Board of the Riigikogu organises the work of the Riigikogu pursuant to the Riigikogu Rules of Procedure Act and the Riigikogu Internal Rules Act.

The authority of the Board lasts for one year. Thereafter, the members of the Riigikogu elect a new Board from among themselves.

The President of the Riigikogu chairs the sittings of the Riigikogu, convenes meetings of the Board of the Riigikogu, presents the draft agenda of meetings to the Board of the Riigikogu and chairs the meetings of the Board of the Riigikogu.

The Board of the Riigikogu organises the representation of the Riigikogu, distributes the positions in standing committees, approves the composition of standing committees, registers factions, prepares the draft agenda for the working week of the Riigikogu and presents it to the Riigikogu for approval. The Board also appoints a leading committee to proceed a draft legislation sent to proceeding, provided that the form of the draft legislation is in conformity with the rules of legislative drafting established by the Board of the Riigikogu.
With the authorisation of the President of the Riigikogu, in his or her absence or upon the suspension of his or her authority, the duties of President of the Riigikogu shall be performed by a Vice-President of the Riigikogu.
