The Riigikogu passed with 66 votes in favour (1 abstention) the Courts Act and Code of Criminal Procedure Amendment Act (754 SE). The Act creates a possibility in criminal proceedings to solve, pursuant to accelerated procedure, mass criminal offences that involve unquestionable facts. Such amendments created a new alternative procedure that provides a special procedure for hearing of simpler criminal matters in pre-trial and court proceedings.

The Riigikogu suspended the second reading of two Bills:

The Bill on Amendments to the Penal Code, Code of Misdemeanour Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure and Information Society Services Act (791 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic;

The Postal Bill (815 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic.

The Riigikogu concluded the first reading of two Bills:

The Bill on the Ratification of Memoranda of Understanding Relating to the Implementation of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the Financial Mechanism of Norway (844 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic.

The Bill on Amendments to the Local Government Council Election Act (831 SE), initiated by the Government of the Republic.

At today’s Question Time no questions were posed to the representatives of the Government.
