At today’s extraordinary session which began at 1.10 p.m., the Riigikogu concluded the third reading of the Act on Establishing Price Limits on Monopolies (597 UA) which the President of the Republic had refused to proclaim and repassed the Act, introducing therein the motions to amend submitted by the Economic Affairs Committee and eliminating thereby the conflicts with the Constitution and other Acts which the President had pointed out. 53 Members of the Riigikogu supported repassage of the Act and 30 members were against, nobody abstained.

 

The purpose of the Act is to amend the District Heating Act, the Public Water Supply and Sewerage Act and the Penal Code such that better protection of consumers would be secured in the price formation of providers of universal service and undertakings in a dominant position.
