The Riigikogu rejected the Draft Resolution (664 OE), submitted by the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union Faction, which had been intended to make a proposal to the Government to transfer the Academy of Security Sciences to Ida-Virumaa.

Siim Valmar Kiisler who made a report on behalf of the submitters of the Draft Resolution pointed out the reasons for the necessity of the transfer.

The representative of the leading committee, member of the Cultural Affairs Committee Andrus Saare gave an overview of the discussion that had taken place in the Cultural Affairs Committee. Saare noted that the Committee had decided to conduct a final vote on the draft Resolution in the Riigikogu plenary assembly.

Lauri Luik, Urmas Reinsalu, Mihhail Stalnuhhin and Jaak Allik took the floor during the debate.

The result of the voting on the Draft Resolution of the Riigikogu “Making a Proposal to the Government of the Republic” (664 OE): 29 members of the Riigikogu were in favour and one was against.

A majority vote of the members of the Riigikogu, that is, at least 51 votes were needed for the Resolution to be passed. Thus the Resolution was not supported.

The Riigikogu also decided to remove Ester Tuiksoo from the Supervisory Board of the National Opera and to appoint member of the Riigikogu Enn Eesmaa as a member of the Supervisory Board.

80 members of the Riigikogu were in favour of the Draft Resolution of the Riigikogu “Removal of a Member of the Riigikogu and Appointment of a New Member of the Riigikogu to the Supervisory Board of the National Opera” (716 OE), submitted by the Cultural Affairs Committee.
