On the motion of the Economic Affairs Committee as the leading committee, the first reading of the Bill on Amendments to the Public Procurement Act (170 SE), initiated by the Estonian Reform Party Faction, the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union Faction and the Social Democratic Party Faction, was concluded. The Bill specifies the provisions of the Public Procurements Act in order to clarify the regulation and solve the practical problems encountered upon the implementation of the Act. Among other things, the passing of the Act will repeal the disproportionate regulation which excludes from public procurements persons who have owed tax arrears for a total period of more than thirty days within twelve months as of the submission of the relevant certificate to the contracting authority. The Bill was sent to the second reading.
