The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson and the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlăţean discussed possible joint activities with partner states of the European Union prior to the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit in the autumn. Focus was on Moldova and Ukraine.

Both parties reiterated their willingness to cooperate in order to tighten the ties of Moldova and Ukraine with the European Union. Mihkelson emphasised the importance of these countries to Estonia as well. They also talked about developments in Georgia, and European Union relations with Turkey.

Titus Corlăţean also asked for Estonia’s support in joining the Schengen area.

Also present at the meeting were Romanian Ambassador Marian Cătălin Avramescu and Estonian Ambassador to Romania Taavi Toom.
